PEDAGOGICAL INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY

The activities were designed according to the age level of the partners. We worked on transnational groups according to their digital skills. We took advantage of the main principles of collaborative-learning, peer-to-peer learning & project-based-learning. Many activities were designed to urge the students’ creativity on inventing new designs & codes, games with Scratch, Scratch Junior, code.org, learning apps, cody robby & minecraft. These apps were chosen in order to lighten up the curiosity of the children, the discovery, the concrete exploration, the procedure of experimenting with right & wrong, the collaboration, the learning-by-doing & the “fault teaching method” (debug). DESCRIPTION

Computational thinking is a mental activity for finding a solution to a problem of a person or a machine. It teaches the students to deal with problems of large dimensions to divide them into smaller parts, to understand how to go through specific solutions to general ones. In this project we experimented with coding & computational thinking according to our school curriculum in a transversal way. We tried to use programming as a vehicle to inclusion since coding is for all students, of any race, cultural basis, religion, gender or nationality. Computational thinking is one of the high-level 21st century skills, this is why I chose my students to take active part in that. They are 10 years old & I believe it is a need to cultivate this kind of thinking for a future that is highly related to technology.

USE OF TECHNOLOGY

In the first phase of brainstorming, me and Stefania as founders, we used facebook messenger & google docs to make the planning. Then, we shared the doc with partners, so they contribute their ideas. In the shared activities we collected our material in Google Drive & padlets. For sharing our work we used the Twinspace Pages because they are very useful. Collages were made with piktochart, smore & canva. For our online meetings we used the eTwinning Live Events. Our communication was also realized by Twinspace mails, Teachers’ Bulletin & chats, as well as Facebook messenger. We made use of google drive for our shared documents & youtube. We created codes in Scratch & Scratch Junior, the Minecraft platform & Cody Robby. We also worked on the Code.org platform, where we found tutorials & coding activities.
